“I Kill was a huge bestseller in Italy in 2002 and is widely translated, although the English version is an irritatingly clunky one — explained by the credit to an “editorial team” of four people. This matters. At a time when the British reader is increasingly venturing into foreign crime fiction, the quality of the translation becomes an important factor, possibly making the difference between enjoyment and rejection. Still, I do not totally dismiss I Kill...”
