The Times

Chloe Rhodes

Despite the promising premise, her 13th novel lacks the gravitas of her last (the brilliant Tell It to the Skies) and has none of its complexity or emotional depth. Instead, there’s an unoriginal “will they, won’t they” romance between Chloe and a dashing man with a secret (he’s a trainee vicar – the scandal!), plus a mildly entertaining account of Sally’s office affair. This is an inoffensive but ultimately unsatisfying read.
