The Guardian
Eric Brown
“This is a compelling sub-genre of SF, allowing writers to utilise weird and wonderful ideas without the constraint of contemporary scientific fidelity. Among the delights are James Lovegrove's linguistically pyrotechnic story of steam-driven pugilists in a Dickensian London, "Steampunch"... and "Lady Witherspoon's Solution", James Morrow's account of the goings on at the Hampstead Ladies' Croquet Club and Benevolent Society, a hilarious tongue-in-cheek tale involving Nietzschean philosophy, evolution, devolution and castration. Roll on volume two.”
